  The Year Of The Rat was a sad and interesting book. I really found the character a little self-centered and selfish. Pearl was too caught up on her own grief, and being self centered to care about how her step-dad feels or how her  best friend is feeling. Also, considering that her best freinds parents are going through a divorce. But other than that this book was pretty good.

     Even though I said that the character was self centered there was some moments I could understand the reason behind her actions. I know what it's like to have a sibling and how they can be SO annoying . Being jealous just comes with the package. 

     The wording was normal. It's not to shabby.

      Overall, I enjoyed this book. The plot was beautiful and sad. I would totally give it 5 bunnies.
